GREEN PAPAYA

Green papaya has a smooth green skin instead of the usual yellow-orange exterior. Inside, you’ll experience a mild flesh reminiscent of melon. Green papaya can be enjoyed raw or baked, sautéed, boiled or barbequed. Christopher Columbus called papaya the “fruit of angels” due to their ability to aid digestion. Indeed papayas contain papain, a powerful enzyme that assists the human digestive system. A rich source of vitamin C, potassium, and fiber, papayas contain only about 55 calories. Green papaya is a mainstay of Southeast Asian cuisine, a remedy for high blood pressure and an aphrodisiac.
