RADICCHIO DI VERONA

Radicchio di Verona is another one of the many delicious varietals of radicchio from Italy. This particular variety comes from Verona, in the Northern, Vento region of Italy. Radicchio di Verona is, as all varieties of radicchio are, part of the chicory family. The radicchio exported from Verona benefits from the warm and humid climate, allowing the produce to taste its best. Radicchio di Verona have small round heads, similar to heads of butterhead lettuce, and are purple or deep red in color. Use your radicchio raw for salads, or eat it with cheese and prosciutto. Radicchio is also tasty cooked in risottos and or grilled.
