BELL PEPPERS

Sweet bell peppers are among the most popular vegetables sold the world over. Their distinctive blocky shape can be found in supermarkets in a variety of colors. Capsicum annuum, the species in which bell peppers belong, originated in the New World, but quickly spread to almost every region. The differences in climate, soil and other conditions have caused hundreds of cultivars to be developed, including “hot” varieties. Typically grown as an open field, summer crop, bell peppers adapted very well to greenhouse production. As a result, high quality red, yellow, orange and green bell peppers are available all year.
