LOQUAT

Loquat fruits are very delicate. Ranging in color from yellow to a creamy orange, these little beauties grow in clusters. Inside, they’re tender and juicy with a flavor that has been described as a blend between a plum, pineapple and apricot. But hurry – its freshness doesn’t last long. The skin is thin and easily bruised, so if you miss the window to eat a loquat out of hand, use it in jams, jellies or syrups. Used in Chinese medicine for soothing the throat, the loquat is great source of vitamin A, potassium, beta carotene, fiber and carbohydrates.
