ALOE VERA

Aloe Vera is thought to have originated in Africa but because it has been cultivated for so long and has been planted on every continent plant scientists are unsure where in Africa it first appeared. Aloe Vera is a succulent plant and has long, gray-green, fleshy leaves. The edges of the leaves contain small, white tooth-like projections. Some varieties develop small white spots along the leaf. Aloe Vera has many uses and it is cultivated as a source of food and as an ingredient in medicines and cosmetics. Aloe Vera is also often used in gardens as an ornamental plant. Many professional chefs and home cooks keep a potted plant in the kitchen. The pulp is believed to be good first aid for burns.
